As a corporate citizen focused on endowment, EFFORT takes its social responsibility very seriously. EFFORT is engaged in business so that it reinvests its resources on worthy causes and use it for the benefit of the people of Tigrai.
In order to accomplish this objective in a sustainable manner, it has established an Endowment Fund Office to manage and control the overall activities and the endowment fund office has been working to address various socio-economic problems.
The major areas that EFFORT endowment focuses on include humanitarian activities like (helping family of the Martyrs, disabled comrades, public services like Education and Health), Language and culture, and Technology.
Since its inception EFFORT has donated billions of Ethiopian Birr in cash and materials to build equipped schools, hospitals, health centers and assisting the needs of helpless elders, family of martyrs, injured veterans, children as well as women with no support, HIV infected people, participating in drought seasons,
sports development, empowering women, participating in environmental protection initiatives & youth associations and authors who write books on the culture and history of the Tigriai people as well as supporting small and micro enterprises .
Effort believes that a community can only reach its full potential by involving everyone in its social and economic life. Accordingly, EFFORT had programs of á empowering áwomen and girls by expanding access to education, increasing economic opportunities and proving critical healthcare to mothers and children to reduce and eventually eliminate poverty. So far in collaboration with Womens Association, Education Bureau, Health Bureau and Labor Office, EFFORT has spent millions of Ethiopian birr on programs that support women.
Up until 2019, Effort endowment has invested more than ETB 2.6 billion on social activities. The most áglorious achievements that EFFORT has accomplished is that it opened job opportunities for over 26,000 citizens.This has greatly contributed to reducing the unemployment rate of the region, there by improving the quality of life of citizens.
HEALTH & EDUCATION
Being one of Effort’s humanitarian activities, education is the biggest focus area that EFFORT has been investing a lot on. Effort has contributed to the education system of the region by building and equipping many high schools, and vocational training centers.

As part of its investment on the health sector, EFFORT contributed nearly 40% in the construction of ADI-REMETS primary hospital, and donated 10 ambulances to Health Bureau of the Tigrai Region. The health sector is one of the demanding sectors that EFFORT wants to invest more in the future. EFFORT has  a plan  to construct one hospital  in Mekelle at a cost of ETB 200 million in the near future.
FAMILY OF MARTYRS AND DISABLED VETERANS
EFFORT is an endowment organization established following the 17 years of armed struggle against the Derg regime. Due to the bitter and elongated war and the drought that happened in that period, the people of Tigrai was economically weakened. There fore, the sole purpose of establishing the endowment was to back up the disadvantaged society of the region. Accordingly, helping the family of our Martyrs, and disabled veterans due to war is our top priority. Since Feb 2015, EFFORT has been helping 13, 213 household families of our Martyrs by providing them some economic aid every month.
Moreover, EFFORT has been investing on small-scale enterprises to help disabled veterans economically by creating them job opportunities. It has also built and donated a huge building for the Tigrai Disabled Veterans Association (TDVA). Many disabled veterans say that the TDVA building has continued to be the economic backbone of the association.
